We found a bee honey pot at an antique show today that is made from glass and silver. The only marking on the pot is the word “Sterling” on the underside of one of the wings.

It has a rather gentle face that still needs to be polished and I will post that on the Great Faces thread after the bee gets his cleaning.

The pot probably came with a glass or silver rod that would have been inserted into the interior of the body for removing honey.

Does anyone have an idea as to when it was made? The dealer thought it was made in the late 1800s, but with the mark sterling on it I think it would be several decades later.

Thanks Scott for the earlier reference.
The one we found has a free blown glass container with a polished pontil. With the simple mark of sterling I think this was made by one of the companies that made, as Dale said, really whimsical silver items.

I also like it, but I am not seeing many indications of substantial age. Maybe 1920s to 1950s?

It is nice when someone says that anything from the 1920s does not have "substantial age". That means to me that something or someone from the 1930s most really be young.
