![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bought this spoon and wonder if this might be Thomas Purse - or someone else. 5.5" long and weighs 11 grams. Is this style around 1800 or could it be earlier ?? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So that's where the other one went... Unfortunately, I am away from my library and notes, so can say naught past a 1800-1815 dating and a guess that it is Thomas Pons of Boston [This message has been edited by wev (edited 11-28-2018).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I agree, a splendid example of Coffin End, 1800-10. WEV is far more qualified on the maker part... A great pick up! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also be aware of the mark for Thomas Philips of Paris, Kentucky, sometimes found alone as TP but discernable as the negative space within the belly of the "P" is rotated 1/4 and not conforming to the outline of the shape of the letter. Just an odd quirk of this smith, I suppose, but does identify what otherwise is a very questionable initial mark. IP: Logged |
