Hello,

I am a new member!

Since finding this forum yesterday I can't stop reading through it! I am in love smile

My name is Annabelle, I work at a coin shop just outside of Cincinnati and am very much a silver addict!

My recently deceased boss/mentor purchased a set of ancient trunk hinges and latches then set me out on a mission to find their origins which in turn led me right down the rabbits hole of falling in love with silver marks and their history. This one however I have never been able to find. I know it is the same mark as the Pillars of Hercules from the coin I just don't know much outside of that or why it is stamped on silver as well. If anyone has some insight on this mark I would very much appreciate it and if not then I am just happy to be here smile

Hi Annabelle.

Are you researching this for the coin shop in which you are working or is this a personal object in your own collection?

There was a thread on this marking a couple of years ago posted by a new member who went by the name Anm8or. The conclusions were that the marking was used on forgeries trying to be Mexican colonial objects. Here is a link to the thread Need help with Silver Mark
