I have small plain silver plated tankard that belonged to my grandfather, do it is probably at least 100 years old. It is Electroplated Nickel Silver. It is stamped "HALF PINT" on the side and engraved "MOULDER'S MUG". (He worked in the brick fields in Kent, UK, at one time and was probably a brick mold maker.) Those marks are obviously post manufacturing. On the bottom is stamped "WMF EPNS" and below that is a script uppercase "F" (similar in appearance to a UK pound symbol) preceded by a small "6" scratched in by hand.

Can anyone tell me anything about the history of this piece?

The plating has been worn off in two areas through use and polishing and I am considering whether to have it restored or just clean it with some Renaissance wax.

If you could please add just a bit more to your question I am sure we can give you some helpful information. First, could you please add some photos - an overall one of the tankard, and a second one that is a closeup of the markings? There is a step by step "How To" on adding photos to your posting by clicking on the hot link under the green box above where it says To Post Photos" or by going to http://www.smpub.com/ubb/FAQ/HowToPostPhotos.htm If you have any difficulty following these instructions please just post what steps you took and we can help you get your photos posted in your question.
