I am a new member and read with great interest the 2003 threads on Alfenide, Christofle and the goats head mark.
I have recently purchased a signed boxed 6 piece cutlery set by Christofle, heavily patterned art deco style in deep gold finish.

On the forks are 3 stamps,

  1. a square stamp with a chess knight looking left and the letters O and C to each side, below that
  2. a rectangular stamp with Alfenide written on and below that
  3. a square stamp with a patterned background, diamond shape in the centre with a goats head looking left, to the right of that is the letter 'A' and to the left is what looks like a 'bird' shape.

This answers one of the questions from the previous threads that the goats head does appear together with the Christofle mark on some pieces. also, from the previous thread information I have estimated the set I have to be around c1935.

Any specific information on the set I have would be appreciated, particularly what material it is with the deep gold finish.

Photos are available but I am not sure how to post them on here yet.

Thank you in anticipation,
scenic

Hi Scenic and welcome to the forum.

You would more likely get an informative response if you take a few minutes and go back and read the guidelines for this forum at Guidelines

We are just a small group of people who like silver and as you will see when you read these instructions we ask new people to please introduce themselves by sharing a little information on their interest in silver in general and why they are asking about the particular objects in their posting. You have taken the first step by looking at previous postings but it would be great if you could please do the others by sharing a little information on your collecting interests and why you are interested in your cutlery set in particular.

Also, descriptions of markings are of minimal help since there are so many similar markings, including Christofle ones. It is essential that you add some photos, both clear closeups of the markings and clear photos of the overall objects. There are step by step instructions on how to post your photos here How to post photos
In addition to helping members here be able to offer informed opinions on your set, posting photos enables everyone on this forum to see and share in your appreciation of this silver.
