What is the difference between the English patterns named "Kings" and "Queens"? Thanks.

Ian Pickford in his Silver Flatware devotes 22 pages to "Kings Shape" paterns. I would refer you to this book. In summary, he lists three principal patterns - Hourglass, King's, and Queen's, with a total of 39 named varieties among them (most of these in King's). The easiest way to distinguish Queen's from the others is that the shell on the front (only) is convex, while in the others it is concave; the shells on the back are all convex.

There are more differences than just the convex shell; I have to go now but will be back with images and a list of distinguishing features (for those who don't have access to the Pickford book).

The differences between the British Kings and Queens patterns are covered in this thread (Kings pattern teaspoon), which compares the post-1860 patterns called 'Kings' but based on the British Queens pattern with the earlier, coin silver era U.S. Kings patterns which were like the British Kings.

The major differences are:

Kings: concave shell on front
Queens: convex shell

Kings: equal sized compact anthemions
Queens: larger upper anthemion with long central shoot; smaller lower, compact anthemion

Kings: one long scroll along each side
Queens: two sets of scrolls, one around each swell of the fiddle shape

Kings: stylized leaves along the 'waist' of the fiddle
Queens: comma-like, infacing swirls along the waist

Kings: tip a stylized, finely threaded shell or simply a finely threaded bump
Queens: tip a circular or oval boss topped by a 'crown' of beading
