I have 15 coin silver spoons and know very little about what I have. I go to estate sales and garage sales and found these spoons. I've done a little research and know I have 3 Jacob Lansing pieces, 2 large spoons marked IGL and 1 smaller spoon marked IL. Is my research correct?

Jewlsalot, now that we understand your interests as explained in your thread on the van der Burgh tankard (TANKARD QUESTION INFO NEEDED Cornelius Vanderburgh?), we welcome your participation in the forums.

There are two past threads dealing with New York Dutch spoons that may be of interest to you: the first includes a discussion of the Lansing marks (c. 1735 Adrian Bancker coin silver spoon), and the second a discussion of spoon styles (Travelling silversmith, well-travelled spoon) of the period.

The IgL spoons look very early, and the IL rather late; as such they are very interesting, but they need to be examined for alterations. Clean them up and post photos, front and back - you can use your ultrasonic cleaner if it is large enough to accommodate them. If you are planning to scrap them, send them to me first!
